Why so quiet?
We went to Florida earlier in March to celebrate a wedding! Then we got back in time to be quarantined because of COVID-19. Harmony's House is practicing good "social distancing" right now. We don't go out and we don't have many people coming in. Stay safe, wash hands, and be healthy. Happy Spring!

Summer Break!
Harmony's House is on a short summer break before the Summer Session starts! Baby "E" and Toddler "K" went to the Luray Caverns, Richmond Zoo, and the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden to kick off summer break. The weather was super hot and humid, but it is so fun to take the kiddos out for hands-on learning in a different setting. Toddler "K" loved the "buh-fwies" (butterflies) that we saw up close at the garden. They were amazing!
School starts up again on June 18th! We can't wait to see our friends soon!

Richmond Zoo and Animals from Africa!
It is summer break at Harmony's House, so family-tripping is happenin'! Toddler "K" and Baby "E" got to go to the zoo and see the REAL animals from Africa that we have been learning about in school. Epic field trip! O_O
Flamingo- these flamingoes are actually the South American kind, but Africa has their own variety too!
Fennec fox
Meerkat
Rhinoceros
Zebra
Ostrich
Giraffe- yes we were really THIS close! We fed and petted these beautiful animals. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Of course what Toddler "K" recalls about the giraffes is that the female peed while we were there. She said, "Potty outside! Yes!"
Baby "E" elephant ;)
Pygmy hippopotamus
Please share our adventure with your school friend and see how many animals they can name!

"Baby K's" Promotion

In May, Ms. Harmony announced that she was expecting another little one! "Baby K" will be getting promoted to BIG sister very soon! (Well in a few weeks anyway.) Ms. Harmony is now 32 weeks along and getting excited for the upcoming addition to the family.
October will be the last month in 2018 that Harmony's House will be open due to the new baby girl coming in November. School is expected to resume in January 2019.

San Diego Zoo
What’s been happening at Harmony’s House? Not much! Ms. Harmony and Baby “K” are on vacation with family in San Diego! We are meeting cousins, aunts, and uncles for the first time! Visiting grandparents is a necessity. But don’t worry, we’ll all be back soon and get right into more fun preschool adventures!

Then and Now- Happy Mother's Day

The Hutson family had to wait about 9 years to have Baby "K" join our family in 2017. That being said, Mother's Day has been both a miserable and terribly wonderful holiday for Ms. Harmony. Baby "K" is a blessing in our lives because she brings so much happiness and unity. What Ms. Harmony loves best about having her own child is that this is an investment that she gets to keep. After all the years of teaching, loving, and investing in children... they always went home somewhere else or moved on to a different classroom to be nurtured by someone else. This is an investment that Ms. Harmony gets to keep and grow year after year after year! It's unbelievable how fast these small treasures grow!

With another little one on the way, due in November, Ms. Harmony will need to update the 2018 Fall Session. Please be on the lookout for the new calendar if you are interested in the fall session.

Snow Day
Today was baby "K's" first snow experience! We dressed up in our snow gear and headed outside for sledding! The cold wind wasn't "K's" favorite thing, but she was definitely interested in all this white covering her yard. She watched snowflakes falling down and patted the soft snow underneath her.
In case of snow days during the calendar session, school will remain open. If you would like to bring your child and are able to get to Harmony's House on snowy roads, please bring your child in snow gear. We will be studying and exploring winter weather up close and first hand!
